NYFW… Y-3

Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 show held on Valentines day at NYFW was beyond. Its creative flow made its one of the most unique and captivating experiences. The minute the lights went down lazers formed a mock runway, framing a three dimensional rectangle the models would walk in. The casual cool draping of the women’s collection, and the assymetry of the men’s, his collection was very much so, himself. At the end of a particular set of looks, instead of the 10 models walking together in a train like fashion around the runway they would sprint as fast as they could to the end, and giggle as they ran backstage. Playful, mesmerizing, completely Yohji Yamamoto. At the very end of his large collection, Yohji himself walked out in the dark room with the spot light on him, and performed a mini-skit with the glorious Freja Beha. The crowd laughed, cheered, and clapped making this runway experience absolutely fantastic.
