Village Green
Last week I was in New York for Fashion Week and had the pleasure of staying in the West Village. I’ve explored this area in previous trips but this time actually got to live in it for a week. As the snow delicately fell upon the quaint streets, I realized that this area looked more like charming London than bustling New York City. After delicious meals, aimlessly window shopping, and enjoying divine coffee, I realized that whenever I come to New York this is where I want to be. Here I’ll give you a little taste of my trip and the best little things that the West Village has to offer.
Charles…This beyond fantastic West Village restaurant located on W4th and W10th is definitely worth a visit. A restaurant with the same chef as Waverly Inn, Charles is delectable. You walk in this tiny space, with closed off windows and are immediately transfixed by the Art Deco design and glitzy fabric and mirror walls. Order the Lobster ravioli which is to die for, and enjoy a drink at the oaky bar. Posh, chic, and a magnet to the glamorous, Charles is a special West Village spot.
Westville… For a more relaxed dining experience, visit this little neighborhood eatery. Always packed because of their delicious market choices, amazing salads, smoked mac-and cheese, and the perfect brunch, Westville is it. With another location in the East Village, Westville is completely eco-friendly and the perfect place for lunch or dinner with friends.
11th Street Cafe’…has the best coffee, and breakfast around! Both of the times I went there was a line out the door at this little local quaint cafe’. Overflowing with amazing baked goods, egg sandwiches, oatmeal, omelettes go enjoy a wonderful breakfast in the West Village.
Magnolia Bakery…if you like cupcakes you will be in heaven. This family owned bakery has the most fantastic cupcakes, traditional cakes, and other scrumptious desserts in all the city. All made on the spot, this little bakery makes its goods fresh everyday. Every time I walked by Magnolia it was bustling with sweet-lovers, and you too should stop by this idyllic shop.
Pippin Vintage Jewelry…When people think of good vintage they think highly priced, but this little find is quite the opposite. With a vast array of jewelry, arm cuffs, broaches, this is surely a treasure-trove for fabulous vintage pieces. Located on 17th street and 6th avenue Pippin is lovely.
Mick Margo…The quintessential cozy boutique with an ecclectic and homy vibe Mick Margo’s collections are gorgeous. Housing lines such as Alexander Wang, Catherine Holstein, Smythe, Gryson, Ports 1961, and VPL, this is a one-stop shop.
Next time your in the West Village stop by these gems…
xx Isabella
